@MCGeest I’ve Googled around, and I can’t find the Swedish German joke. I’d like to hear it if it’s around somewhere on the Internets.

@legr8est1234
His delivery was funny as hell, As well as the context (of the chemistry between him and Conan and him ‘wasting’ Conan’s time). A far better somewhat similar joke is him telling the Andy Richter the Swedish German joke. That joke is similar in that it’s very long but the punch line and context is way funnier (it’s not an anti joke).

in general are what actually make the joke amusing. The reason Conan is laughing is not because of the joke itself, which is particularly unfunny, but the way Norm says it. Its not about anti-comedy; its about brilliant delivery. This is the same reason why comedians like Dave Chappelle and Mitch Hedberg are hilarious. For an example of the best delivery possible by a comedic actor, look no further than Bill Murray in Groundhog Day.

For those of you who didn’t find this funny…
The reason this kind of humor works is not because of it being a long, drawn out joke or him succeeding at anti-comedy. Its because of his delivery. The joke itself (anti-comedy) isn’t very funny and any other comedian attempting it would fail. This is where the brilliance, intended or not, of Norm can be seen. The way in which he delivers the joke: the slow cadence, botched pronunciation, strange mannerisms and of course, just hilarious voice

@legr8est1234 Fair enough, if you didn’t find it funny, that’s your opinion I guess.

@facecycle I’ve seen anti-comedy (or heard anti-jokes) before, and they can actually be funny, in their own horrible way. For example, why did the little girl fall off her bike? Because she had no arms. Knock knock! Who’s there? Not the little girl.

Anyhow, I long until the day when anti-comedians become successful. Norm’s anti-joke, while it probably succeeded in its purpose, was just disappointing to anyone who listened to him drag it out for four minutes. Overall, I’m sorry I watched it.

@legr8est1234 Type anti-comedy into google. I have wikipedia on my side, therefore I win. BOOM.

@facecycle I thought jokes were supposed to be funny. No comic has ever been successful on the basis of long, drawn-out “jokes” that have horrible punchlines, just because that’s the joke. Since when is being unfunny funny?

its called dry humor

@lehtinen21 So, was I supposed to laugh? Was this supposed to be some sort of philosophical lesson on society’s views of humor? A parody is usually humorous.

@legr8est1234 That’s the point.

@legr8est1234 You just described perfectly what Norm was trying to do here. It’s like a parody of a joke.

good joke

That was not as funny as I expected it to be. Way too much build-up for a relatively weak ending. I mean, the bulk of the joke isn’t funny either, and what should be punchline is in fact a real letdown.
